RKT Old Boys is a central alumni community for the institutions connected with Sri Ramakrishna Tapovanam. One platform, many institutions — so that an old boy who moved between them keeps a single identity across all of them.

Our legacy
Sri Ramakrishna Tapovanam
Sri Ramakrishna Tapovanam at Tirupparaithurai works towards the educational, spiritual, moral and cultural advancement of the community, and manages educational institutions across Tamil Nadu. It was founded by Srimath Swami Chidbhavanandar, and its residential Gurukula school at Tirupparaithurai was established in 1942.
Its educational mission draws on the teachings of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, the Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi and Swami Vivekananda. The vision behind it emphasises character, strength of mind, intellectual development and self-reliance — an education meant to form a person, not only to qualify one.

ஸ்ரீமத் ஸ்வாமி சித்பவானந்தர்Srimath Swami Chidbhavanandar
March 11, 1898 – November 16, 1985
Srimath Swami Chidbhavanandar was born on March 11, 1898 in Senguttaipalayam, near Pollachi in the Coimbatore District of Tamil Nadu. His parents named him Chinnu. He studied at Stanes School in Coimbatore and afterwards at Presidency College, Chennai.
He was deeply influenced by the philosophy of Swami Vivekananda. After visiting the Ramakrishna Math at Mylapore he chose the monastic path, and went to the Ramakrishna Mission at Belur. His guru there was Swami Shivananda, a direct disciple of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa.
Following Swami Shivananda's advice he returned to Tamil Nadu, and in the early 1940s established Ramakrishna Tapovanam at Tirupparaithurai. From it grew a body of educational work: he established and supported institutions across the state, among them Vivekananda College, Madurai, in 1971.
He wrote more than a hundred books in Tamil and English. Alongside works on philosophy he addressed contemporary social life, and wrote dramas drawn from the Hindu scriptures for students to perform. His Tamil and English commentaries on the Bhagavad Gita are the best known of his writings. He passed away in 1985.
